I've always heard of the tomato juice with skunk odors but how about
getting cat urine smell out of clothing? Our cat accidentally got
into a closet and decided to go all over our son's back pack. Anyone
know of great ways of getting this smell out? TIA :-)

get rid of the kid - it's clearly pissing off your cat.

Look for a granule called Odorz Out. I can't remember if I bought it
at Petco or Petsmart, but it comes in a large canister. I would put
the backpack in a plastic bag with a bunch of the powder and give it a
day or two to absorb the odor.

I first bought this at a cat show from a vendor there. I had
discovered the day before the show that a rat had set up house in my
shed, and the rat had peed on my tripod. So, the urine smell was in
the head of the tripod, right where my camera attaches. Everytime I
took photos, my nose was right by the urine smell. I even tried
washing it with lysol and bleach. No improvement. I put a spoonful of
the powder into a kleenex and stuffed it into the gap under my camera.
By the next day, the smell was completely gone. Never smelled it
again.

I haven't had the need to use it very often, but it has worked each
time.

If you can't find it, you can try borax. It also absorbs smells, but
not quite as well as the Odorz Out.

nature's miracle. get thespray bottle and soakthe backpack. you want
to be thorough because even when you can't smell it any longer, the
cat can and may decide that it needs a refresher.

Go to a janitorial supply place and get an odor eliminator. They come
in various names and come in spray bottles. Wash the jacket with about
1/4 cup of the odor eliminator and it will come out smelling fresh. We
did that with a jacket we got from the thrift store that REEKED of
cigarette smoke, and you never would have guessed that it had been
within 10 miles of a cigarette after it was washed.
